The Fox Says Bonobobobobo

It's been a few weeks, but Hallowinona happened around Halloween, and you can see what that inspired in Bonobo Handshake.  The team went as Bonobo Foxshake (What does the fox say?) and celebrated all things animal, with a random guy in a kilt and a guy in a sombrero.

Game play was what you'd expect from a costume tournament, but we'd like to say we won a game, even if only on style.  If you've never been to Hallowinona, put it on your calendar for next year.  It's always a good time!

Learning Some Skills

The CURDS community has been playing lots of Ultimate this summer between pick-up,  league, and tournaments.  Attendance has been great at the Tuesday skills clinics as well, where players are introduced to and shown ways to practice fundamental skills and strategies.

This group is working on leading throws and timing of cuts from a vertical stack offence.

Bennet cut to a perfect spot for Rachel to throw to, and Stephen lead Josh just the right amount for an easy run-on catch.

Sam teaches the group the skill and drill at the beginning of the clinic.  Following the clinic, players are encouraged to stick around for pick-up, where they can incorporate what they learn while playing.

What's Ultimate Without Neon Spandex?

The UWL women, UWL alumni men, and CURDS combined this past weekend to play at Hallowinona, a Halloween costume tournament in Winona, MN. The theme: 80's workout instructors. Note the neon spandex, headbands, a creepy mustache, and ALF. I'd say they look like pretty authentic, don't you? And I hear their Ultimate playing wasn't too shabby either.

Beer-Battered Curds at Cooler

Despite a thunderstorm to start off Saturday morning, the weather at Cooler Classic was perfect for Ultimate, and CURDS enjoyed it to its fullest. Congratulations to everyone who played for breaking seed for the second tournament in a row!

Cassy brought out her camera and took some pictures of our awesome Ultimate playing skills just before we switched over to the Reuter field (which is green and plush, if you have yet to join us).
