Disc Golf Leagues and How They Work

Pettibone Park got hit pretty hard by the ash tree removal last year, but the Mississippi Valley Disc Golf Club put in many hours of work to redesign and layout a great new disc golf course.  Have you checked it out yet?

If you're like me, you usually only head over to play the Pettibone course as a casual, summer afternoon activity.  But did you know that there are several disc golf leagues to play in?  Check out the spring and summer schedules below, and head over sometime to meet up with some other disc enthusiasts.

For those who don't know how disc golf leagues are run (very differently from Ultimate!), Oz from MVDGC kindly wrote up a description of how things go.  If you have any more questions, head over to the MVDGC facebook page, or just show up for a league!

  • Sundays, 10am: Free Bag Tag League
  • Tuesdays, 5:00/5:30pm/6:00pm (adjusted for daylight): Money Singles
  • Thursdays, 5:00/5:30/6:00pm (adjusted for daylight): Money Doubles
Sundays, 10am: Free Bag Tag League
Free League, good for beginners who just want to play with others and have some fun.

  1. Participants must sign up by 9:45am
  2. Tee off is 10:00am
  3. Players receive 1 point for showing up and 1 point for every person they beat.
  4. At the end of the round the player with the lowest score gets the lowest numbered bag tag.
  5. At the end of the season the player with the highest points gets the lowest numbered bag tag.
  6. Everyone must conduct themselves according to PDGA rules and within the Spirit of the Game with the exception of using lights on your discs during a glow round, profanity, alcohol, and dress code.
  7. Friendly side wagers can be made at the discretion of the participants, but are NOT required. If you lose your Bag Tag, please report it immediately.
  8. The Spirit of the Game: Disc golf is played, for the most part, without the supervision of a referee or umpire. The game relies on the integrity of the individual to show consideration for other players and abide by the Rules. All players should conduct themselves in a disciplined manner, demonstrating courtesy and sportsmanship at all times, irrespective of how competitive they may be. This is the Spirit of the Game of disc golf.

Professional and Amateur Divisions; Recreational Division can be created if enough interest
