Boot

Boot is a disc sport we play when we don't have enough folks for proper Ultimate. The version we play is based loosely upon Durango Boot with a few variations.

Two teams of three people attempt to accumulate three points by knocking down any of four scoring cones with the disc. Matches are best-of-three.

To score, the disc must not be in the offensive player's hand. However, the disc does not have to hit the cone "on the fly," i.e., it can slide or roll on the ground and still legally knock over a scoring cone. If a defender knocks over a cone, it counts as a point for the offensive team. If a cone is knocked over but tumbles back to an upright position, it does not count as a score.

As in Ultimate, an intercepted disc or incompleted pass is a turn, and the defensive team immediately becomes the offensive team. After a score, the defensive team becomes the offensive team as soon as the scoring cones are reset.

The offensive team may attack any of the four scoring cones after they catch the disc in the "take back" zone. If a team turns the disc in the take back zone and the new offensive team takes possession in the take back zone, the offense may immediately attack the scoring cones.

A stall count of six is in effect, and any defender may stall any offensive player from any spot on the field.

Scoring cones knocked down by discs thrown from the take back box are worth two points. Cones knocked down by discs thrown beyond the take back box, i.e., the other side of the field or parallel to the take back box, are worth three points.

Normal Ultimate rules such as travels and fouls are in effect but are generally not called unless the violation is blatant.
