League Values

  • Inclusivity: Players should treat one another with respect, including across skill levels and gender. Recreational League includes players of a variety of skill levels. Every player should be welcomed on the team and included on the field (especially, but not only, given touch opportunities) to the extent of their abilities.
  • Safety first: Player safety is of utmost importance. With a wide variety of skill levels, potentially dangerous situations (such as hanging discs) become more common. It is incumbent upon experienced and athletic players to avoid unnecessary and dangerous contact. To prevent unsafe play to the greatest extent possible, unsafe play may result in direct consequences to a player such as benching or ejection.
  • Equitable playing time: All players should get a reasonable share of the available playing time.

League Guidelines

  • Game duration is 60 minutes.  Sam Wood and Craig Wotruba are the official timekeepers.

  • When time expires in a half, finish the point. If, after the last point of the second half is finished, teams are tied, play one more point to determine a winner.

  • There is one time-out per team per half. Please keep times-out to 120 seconds.
  • Gender ratio is 5 men/2 women.
  • Zone defense is prohibited. The only exception is if a team is unable to field seven persons.
  • Poaching is strongly discouraged. All defenders should endeavor to guard their person whereas guarding is defined as being within ten feet of and reacting to the offensive player. Once a disc is in the air, a defender may peel off his/her check to chase the disc. (This is usually applicable to hucks. It can happen on other cuts, but defenders should not be straying more than ten feet from their check before the disc is in the air.
  • Watermelon Rule: If you catch the last score in a game, you will bring a watermelon to the next league game. It does not matter if you are on the winning team or not. WATERMELON!
  • Have fun! This is a recreational league. Win-at-all-costs behavior is frowned upon. Play with spirit. Relish the joy of play. Congratulate your teammates and opponents on great plays.

Field Rules

  • Dogs: Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Sky Harbour and VETERANS FREEDOM park. However, dogs don't always play nicely with each other, children, or flying discs. CURDS reserves the right to remove any dog or other animal from the premises.
  • Alcohol: Persons ages 21+ are welcome enjoy adult beverages at the fields. Do not provide alcohol to minors. Do not become excessively drunk. CURDS reserves the right to remove disorderly drunks from the premises.
